AF open house and air show

Saturday night we drove to Boeing and caught a bus to McConnell Air Force Base for their open house. It was dark so most of the pictures didn't turn out, but we got a few.

Addi covered her ears before we even got there and pretty much had them covered the entire time, and never stopped asking "can we go home?".

Caedmon and Jake, on the other hand, were like two kids in a candy shop!

(On a side note - we had a chaperone on our bus to get us into the base, who kindly gave us instructions to follow in case of an "active shooter". Comforting...)

I could hardly keep up with the boys as they ran across the tarmac from one jet to another. It was so fun : ) Caedmon LOVES jets and says he's going to be a pilot when he grows up.

Here we are in front of the Dream Lifter just to get a shot of how huge it was. And this thing didn't even come close to the F17 (or whatever it's called) which is an ENORMOUS cargo jet! It's tail was a high as a tall building!

Caedmon was in his element and loved every single minute of it!
This is inside that F17 (or whatever it's called) I was talking about before. This is looking out the back of the cargo hold. Jake and Caedmon waited in line for about 30 minutes to climb the 2 ladders into the cockpit, but just as they got to the first set of stairs the pilots shut it down. Bummer! We'll have to get in line sooner next time.
Then on Sunday afternoon the Thunderbirds were doing a show so Jake took Caedmon out to "the hill" in town and they watched the show. I saw some from the house, and it really is so amazing to see them fly.

This is a video of something silly they did at the open house - a jet propelled out house. They also had a jet propelled bus that travelled at 300mph too - it was pretty crazy!

I do have one thing to say for this city - it is exactly the right place for Jake and Caedmon to live. Now, when do Addi and I get to move onto a horse farm?...
